Master of Business Administration
— Concentration in Insurance and Risk Management
Colorado Technical University Online's MBA with a concentration in Insurance and Risk Management is designed to help students acquire these skills as they prepare to pursue career opportunities in this field.
This industry-current MBA degree program has been specifically designed for insurance professionals who have earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation of the American Institute for CPCU (AICPCU) and Insurance Institute of America (IIA).
Courses in this MBA degree program are taught by experienced instructors with career-relevant knowledge in the insurance industry, making this an appropriate course of study for students committed to earning the industry-current credentials necessary to make critical property casualty underwriting decisions for businesses and organizations.
Upon receipt of proof that an applicant has been awarded the CPCU designation, Colorado Technical University will credit the applicant 16 quarter hours toward the MBA-IRM degree program. After a student has completed the MBA-IRM core courses (and the award of the CPCU has been validated), he/she will be enrolled in a two-course capstone project.
- Insurance and Risk Management Capstone I. Students can learn to resolve issues or take advantage of opportunities faced by business leaders. Specifically, the course focuses on how to create and sustain strategies that create value to businesses, consumers and society as a whole. The primary focus of the student in this course is on the formulation of an effective strategic policy plan.
- Insurance and Risk Management Capstone II. Students use the functional skills acquired from previous core and CPCU concentration courses to resolve issues or take advantage of opportunities faced by business leaders. The course provides students with the opportunity to assess situations and develop courses of actions to address those situations. The primary focus of the student in this course is on the implementation of the strategic policy plan formulated in IRM Capstone I.
